There are many traditional ways of memorializing loved ones that have passed on–funerals, gravestones, and donations, for example. However, many people are searching for different ways of paying tribute. Pilloo’s face-shaped pillows allow customers to create unique mementos that capture the spirit of their loved ones while fitting in with their home decor.
According to Pilloo, the process of making a face-shaped pillow is easy. “The customer starts by uploading the image of their loved one to our online studio,” said a spokesperson for the company. “The platform then generates a mock-up of the pillow that the customer can crop and edit to their liking. Once satisfied, they choose the pillow size they want and submit their order.”
Using a sublimation technique, the image is printed onto a soft wrinkle-free polyester velvet fabric. Pilloo’s team then makes their cuts around the outside of the image giving the pillow its unique shape. The fabric is then sewn together and filled with high-quality stuffing materials.
Customers aren’t limited to the faces of loved ones; they can also have the faces of their pets, celebrities, athletes, musicians, and cartoon characters printed on their pillows. They also don’t have to be just for sombre occasions either; many customers get them as birthday and anniversary gifts, and they also make funny work gifts.
“Sadly, we lost a key member of our work team about a year ago,” said a satisfied customer. “He had a great sense of humour and got along with everybody, so we got a pillow with his face on it from Pilloo to keep on the couch in the lunchroom and remind us of him. It’s great–everyone smiles when they see it and I can only imagine he’s laughing about it wherever he is.”
