Ledger Nano X Portable Hardware Wallet: Corporate Crypto Vault Announced
In 2014, the first-ever crypto hardware wallet was released, offering traders a simple way to store their digital assets offline and access them on the go, though they included several limitations. These new crypto hardware wallets, launched by The Crypto Merchant and built by Ledger, offer a range of new features, including compatibility with more devices and a wider selection of cryptocurrencies.

Building on the success of the Ledger Nano S, the Nano X device provides enough storage space to secure over 1,800 coins and tokens, and compatibility with more than 100 popular cryptocurrencies. Compared to the Nano S, the new wallet also provides more options for connecting other devices, by including a no-cost app for both Android and iOS smartphones.
The Ledger Nano X uses tamper-resistant Secure Element (SE) chips to store private keys, which provides security similar to using an “air gap,” or keeping the private keys stored offline. The security features are also certified using a trusted CC EAL5+ process, and independently audited by the French National Agency for the Security of Information (ANSSI).
To provide an additional layer of security, Ledger devices also use a custom operating system, known as the Blockchain Open Ledger Operating System (BOLOS). This technique is used to isolate crypto apps on the device, preventing any potential cyber-risks from questionable applications. A Ledger spokesperson explained, “Ledger hardware wallets are the only devices in the market that uses a Secure Element in combination with a custom Operating System.”
With the expanded storage space, and app-isolation security features, users can have over 100 different coin applications installed at once, on the same device. Pairing the device with the Ledger Live companion app, which is available at no cost, users can also track asset values in real time, manage multiple accounts, stake coins, and complete transactions, all within the secure Ledger app.
