ICR Students Get Hands-On Experience for Medical Assistant, Patient CareTechnician And Home Health Aide Jobs
Students graduate and start working in these in-demand jobs in as little as one month.
Nearly one-third of the most in-demand jobs today are in the medical field for in-facility and at-home care. Many of these careers have overlapping skills and certifications, enabling those who train in one area to advance or pivot within the industry.
For example, a Medical Assistant program such as the 720-hour program offered at ICR Florida includes phlebotomy, EKG, urinalysis and other tests, as well as the administrative side of working in healthcare. A 600-hour Patient Care Technician includes nursing assistant skills and home healthcare, alongside running complex tests and equipment. Home Health Aides learn patient care procedures, nutrition, and a wide range of in-home and facility-applicable care practices in a just 75-hour diploma program.
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics projections, the number of home health aide and personal health aide jobs will rise 37 percent by 2028 in the United States.
While you don’t need advanced university education to be hired, these careers do require additional education and credentialling.
Three high demand jobs, Medical Assistant, Home Health Aide, and Patient Care Technician have training programs that include a collection of broadly applicable medical industry skills.
These well-paid jobs are readily available, however the required additional education needed stands as a major roadblock.
Last year, HCM Strategists and Edge Research reported the results in a survey they conducted with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to find out why more people who want to pursue advanced degrees opt out. Of the 11 focus groups and 1675 people surveyed online, all between the ages of 18 and 30 found that 27 percent felt that it would be too much pressure, 26 percent believed working and earning now was more important, and 25 percent opted out from uncertainty of their career path.
ICR Florida disagrees. They believe that the biggest roadblock to furthering education to access in-demand careers is that prospective students are unaware of how fast, easy, and convenient getting that advanced certification can be with the right school and the right support.
“Even if you’re unsure of your career path, it’s always the right time to get certified in widely applicable, in-demand medical industry skills,” said Sebastian Paramo, ICR’s Director.
ICR Florida offers Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Home Health Aide program tracks, as well as continuing education and exam support. All programs have both full and part-time options so students can balance work, family, and other obligations with increasing their education career options.
