Good Companions 24hr Home Care Manager’s daughter wins Gold at Transplant Games
Over the past few years, the Good Companions Care Services has been at the fore front of the battle with Covid -19, caring for all their customers during a time of national crisis. Whether in the Silloth Care Home (Cumbria), or customer’s own homes.
However, it is now grabbing the headlines for happier reasons. Their national, 24-Hour Live-in Care Manager, Jayne Seaton explained. “This summer, my daughter won 2 Gold Medals at the British Transplant Games in Leeds”.
Jayne’s daughter, Becky, who had a lifesaving Kidney and Pancreas Transplant in 2016, competed in a number of sporting events to help raise awareness of the importance of organ donation, honour her organ donor, and to celebrate her second chance of life.
Running for over 40 years, The Westfield Health British Transplant Games are a highlight of the year for families affected by organ donation and are described as a huge celebration of life!
Taking place in different host cities every Summer, the games see teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete in a medley of sports. The 4-day event attracts around 1000 children & adult transplant athletes, live donors, donor families and more than 1700 supporters.
The Games are organised on behalf of the charity “Transplant Sport”, whose aim is to raise awareness of the need for organ donation, encourage transplant recipients to lead active lifestyles and show appreciating for, and remember, donors and their families.
The British Transplant Games also help to increase the awareness of Anthony Nolan, and their need for blood stem cells and bone marrow donation.
After lots of hard work and training, Becky had an extremely successful games and came home with gold medals in 100m sprint & long jump, and silver medals in 200m sprint & archery!
Jayne is really proud and urges everyone to share their organ donation decision with their loved ones so that more lives, like Becky’s, can be saved.
Becky has also recently taken part in the European Transplant and Dialysis Championships, which were held in Oxford this year. She was part of Team Great Britain and NI and competed against athletes from 26 other European countries.

“It was an honour and privilege to represent Team GB & NI. The European Games were truly amazing, emotional and beyond inspiring. I have returned home with so many more inspirational friends from the UK and all over Europe, all with a story to tell, all connected to organ donation, and many who would not be here today if it wasn’t for our organ donors and their selfless families giving the precious gift of life. Thankyou Donor Families!! “
Becky returned home from Oxford with a gold medal in the 4x100m female relay, double silver in the 100m and 200m with 2 personal bests, and a bronze medal in Petanque doubles. All powered by the ‘Gift of Life’.
Her dream is to be selected to take part in the World Transplant Games as part of Team GB and NI which are being held next April in Perth, Australia.
